I wanted to share my experience with Acibadem to help others considering a similar path. On a bit of a whim (let’s call it a midlife crisis), I decided to have both a rhinoplasty and an otoplasty. I used ChatGPT to research countries, certified surgeons, and all-inclusive packages covering surgery, hotel, and transfers. While Acibadem wasn’t my first result, once I looked more closely at hospital standards, surgeon credentials, and overall organisation, it made my shortlist—and ultimately became my choice. Booking & Communication I contacted Acibadem via WhatsApp and received a response the next morning from a representative named Kenneth. After sending around 15 clear photos from different angles, the surgeons reviewed my case and I received a detailed quote within a couple of days, including surgery, hotel, transfers, and date options. I booked my flights, shared the details, and received clear arrival instructions the week of surgery. Arrival & Transfers Acibadem has a meeting point at Istanbul Airport. My transfer was waiting on arrival and brought me directly to my hotel. Everything was seamless and well organised. Pre-Op Experience The next morning, I was collected from my hotel and brought to the hospital. From the moment I arrived, it felt incredibly efficient. My interpreter/guide, Kaan, met me and stayed with me throughout. In under 40 minutes, I met my surgeon, had blood tests, met the anesthesiologist, completed paperwork, and paid for the procedure. In Ireland, this could easily take half a day. Hospital Staff & Surgeon Everyone I encountered was kind and professional. Dr. Melih was excellent—clear, realistic, and thorough in explaining what he would do and what results to expect. Any language barriers with hospital staff were handled instantly with translation apps on their phones. Surgery Day On surgery day, Kaan brought me to my private room, I was given a Xanax, and met briefly with the anaesthesiologist before being given the dreamy sleepy nightly snoozy snooze. I woke up about five hours later and was very well cared for. I did experience numbness in one hand and both feet, which the team took seriously. They explained it was likely temporary nerve compression and kept me an extra night as a precaution, which I appreciated. The hand resolved within two days and the feet improved over several days. Discharge & Follow-Ups On discharge, I was given clean dressings, and Kaan even collected my prescription as my eyes were too swollen for contact lenses. I returned for a post-op appointment where Dr. Melih changed my dressings and cast and gave detailed aftercare instructions. Kaan also made sure I had a “safe to fly” letter, which I hadn’t realised I needed. Recovery So Far I am now one week post-surgery and back home in Ireland. The rhinoplasty has been virtually painless—eating was the most annoying part for the first few days until the nose tampons were removed. The ear surgery, however, has been more uncomfortable and makes sleeping difficult, which I was prepared for. Final Thoughts I genuinely cannot fault Acibadem. From organisation and efficiency to medical care and personal support, they went above and beyond. I felt safe, supported, and extremely well cared for throughout. I am beyond satisfied with the results and the entire process. The medical staff were highly skilled, attentive, and genuinely compassionate, which made a big difference throughout my visit. I would especially like to thank Kaan Işık for his outstanding assistance. He was incredibly supportive, responsive, and professional, ensuring that everything went smoothly and that all my concerns were addressed. His dedication and helpful attitude truly stood out. Also My Coordinator Mr Magnus helped and assisted in every way possible and made life much easier for me and was very efficient and dependable. Excellent experience at the hospital! I accompanied my daughter for her nose surgery, and we were both deeply impressed by the hospital’s professionalism and warm atmosphere. The medical staff were attentive, organized, and always ready to help — from the reception to the nurses and doctors.
